About me.
Hey everyone! My name is Batuhan Aksu and I’m the face behind Tx_blades. I’m a 17 year old highschool student from Turkey that from a young age, was drawn to the craft of building and creating. While most kids were glued to their phones, I spent my time in the workshop given to me by my parents, learning how to shape and mold materials into functional tools. Starting with simple projects like bows, arrows, slingshots, and even crossbows with my own trigger mechanisms, my passion evolved into a deep appreciation for knives. Over the years, I honed my skills, moving from fixed blade designs to mastering the art of balisongs, which eventually gained traction on Instagram. What began as a hobby has now grown into a full-fledged business, and I’m proud to have launched my own website, where I share my craftsmanship with you.
My Balisong Journey
As I got older and finally got a phone, around the start of highschool, I decided to open an instagram page specifically for knives. There, I posted my creations among other things I did to “service” and “maintain” my knives. These included retipping (fixing a broken tip), resharpening, and reshaping blades which I also did for other people like my dads co co-workers as needed. This gained immediate traction and lots of interest on instagram which I was very taken aback by. I woke up to multiple dms of people asking me how much I charge for my services and many complimenting my work. This of course made me feel very good and confident and only made me post more and work harder to improve my skills. Predictably, when I got old enough I got my first balisong. It was a trainer however which i wasnt a fan of, so I decided to re-blade it making it a custom sharp blade in the shape I wanted to finally own the live blade I always wanted. This was the defining moment as almost everyone that saw that post of the blade I had made myself had messaged me asking me to make them one for their knife. This is what led me to start offering reblades to others which I wasn’t able to do very many of due to how long they took me. Over time while making these re-blades for people I was also buying and trading many different balisongs and seeing what I liked and didnt like.
After almost 3 years in this community, I decided I had enough knowledge and created a big enough name for myself to attain the support I needed to start creating my own balisong designs and turn it into a full scale business. Unlike most makers, I was also a flipper, meaning I can actually flip the balisongs I make or own. This helps me design my balisongs from both a maker, and flippers point of view in order to put the best product I could. I hope to continue this passion for as long as possible and make many many more designs!
